What makes a good volunteer?

The love of working with the students. The willingness to learn and realizing every class will have something new to offer the volunteers, instructors, and the students. Realizing it’s okay when things don’t go as planned. Flexibility is priceless. Knowing it’s okay if you’ve never been around horses. We will teach you. Patience, kindness, reliability, and a sense of humor is the key to being a volunteer. Every volunteer is important no matter their skill level. Hence the willingness to learn and accept you don’t know everything….

Why is the Exceptional Riders Program a good organization to support?

Every parent is looking for the key that will open the door of possibilities for their child, especially kids with special needs. The Exceptional Riders Program offers that key and the horses are the doors of possibilities. The Exceptional Riders Program Goal Statement says it best: Our purpose is to enhance the lives of individuals who have special needs through equine assisted activities and therapies while teaching the sport of horsemanship. Therapeutic Riding provides healthy exercise while building skills, allowing each individual to be successful by focusing on their accomplishments.
